Resumen:
The effect of the addition of different niquel precursors to a platinum monometallic catalyst on the activity and sulfur resistance during styrene semi-hydrogenation was studied. Catalysts were characterized by hydrogen chemisorption, TPR and XPS techniques. All the catalysts presented high selectivity (> 98%). Bimetallic catalysts were more active then the monometallic one, the following activity order of the catalysts was found: Pt < PtNiCl < PtNiN. After poisoning with 100 ppm of thiophene the following order of sulfur resistance was found: Pt > PtNiN > PtNiCl, but the most active system was the bimetallic PtNiN. Activities and sulfur resistances differences between the catalysts could be associated to different superficial Pt electro-deficient species and to niquel oxide (NiO) deposited over the Pt active sites that interacts with the support with different kind of forces.
