Resumen:
The aim of this paper is to characterize the economic strategies present at El Shinkal archaeological site (Argentinean Northwest) during its Inka occupation. Archaeobotanical and zooarchaeological data will be contrasted in order to understand the strategies of procurement and employment of different resources. This information will also be complemented by morphological/typological ceramic analysis. We will take into account two of the main site architectural structures: 5f and Kallanka 1 which had different functions during Inka times. The analysis suggests an economic strategy which made an intensive use of Monte natural resources. This is atypical for an Inka site proposed as a Wamani or Provincial capital of the Inka state system.
