Resumen:
A group of international students in the MA in Intercultural Communication program and PhD program in Language, Literacy, and Culture at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) is proposing an innovative approach where intercultural perceptions are presented through the eyes of those who usually are the research target population. We are offering a workshop with a tri-dimensional perspective: perceptions of "the Other" from an international student point of view; perceptions of "the Other" from an interculturalist's perspective; and perceptions of "the Other" through the eyes of U.S. Americans. The purpose of our workshop is to open more room for a constructive and in-depth discussion on awareness and cross-cultural sensitivity; and provide the audience with hands-on tools for further successful application in the field.
