El género biográfico puede analizarse como un producto de la industria cinematográfica hollywoodense que, desde su constitución hasta nuestros días, contribuye a la construcción de una idea del proceso creador anclada en la tradición historiográfica del arte. La investigación tendrá como objeto de estudio aquellos filmes que relatan la vida de artistas plásticos del siglo XX.

El propósito de este trabajo es señalar a partir del análisis textual de
los films, el modo en que el género biográfico puede leerse como un melodrama que pone énfasis en el factor emotivo de las vidas de los artistas y reduce a lo anecdótico el proceso creador, restando el valor y la importancia estética que dichos artistas lograron.
