Almost 5% of the world population is affected by Diabetes mellitus. Long standing Diabetes is associated with an imbalance in bone mineral metabolism, modification of calcium and phosphorous regulation, a decrease in the mineral content and mineral density of bone leading to osteopenia and osteoporosis, increased risk of fractures, and a decrease in the repair of bone lesions [1].
