Resumen:
In this work the control of an electric wheelchair guided through voice commands is presented. It is an assistance device for quadriplegic people or with severe motor difficulties. The user just says the desired direction and then, the chair moves according to such instruction. The basic voicecommands are: "forward", "back", "left", "right" and "stop". The voice command is detected by an Easy VR V3.0 card. Additionally, the chair was equipped with a RPLIDAR A1 laser sensor that is responsible for detecting obstacles or other areas where the user could suffer accidents. The system was evaluated on trajectories with different degree of difficulty. The performance of the voice detection board was suitable for non-noisy environments. The navigation system commanded by voice allowed the users to drive the wheelchairs by the proposed trajectories.
