Resumen:
New methodologies in precision irrigation, aimed atmonitoring and controlling the irrigation based on the crop waterdemand, allow to improve the water use efficiency in theagricultural production process. Measuring the soil water contentto determine how much and when to irrigate is one way to controlthe crop irrigation. This work presents the development and setupof a wireless monitoring network of measurement stations basedon embedded systems, that concentrate measurement of soilmoisture, pressure in the irrigation lines, and water flow. A basestation coordinates the communication with the measurementstations, saves the data in a local database and then upstream thedata to a web server so the information can be remotely accessed. The design of the measurement stations is based on amicrocontroller, MC9S08QE32 from NXP, while the base stationis based on a Raspberry Pi3. The communication between thenodes is performed at 470MHz in a mesh mode configuration. Inorder to show the performance and reliability of the proposedsystem, results obtained from three irrigation treatmentsmonitoring in a tomato crop are presented.
