Resumen:
 In March 2012, 30 faculty and 49 studentsfrom all over the world met in El Calafate, Argentina, duringtwo intense weeks. It was the second Latin American Schoolfor Education, Cognitive, and Neural Sciences (LASchool),sponsored by the James S. McDonnell Foundation. The LASchool seeks to critically examine research findings potentiallyrelevant to the development, design, and implementation ofeffective educational practices, and to foster a new generationof researchers able to operate at the interface betweeneducation and science. Here we introduce a special issuewhich brings together theory, experiments, and educationalinterventions which emerged from ideas presented anddiscussed during the 2012 LASchool.
