Resumen:
Bone Tissue Engineering (BTE) was developed in order to overcome these problems using different materials as scaffolds for growth of new bone tissue. We have developed PCL-scaffolds containing Sr that allowed bone regeneration and also could act like a drug delivery system. Results showed that, in the Sr 1% membrane, the presence of Sr maintains COLt1 levels and induces an increase in cellular ALP. Also, the cell proliferation grown in the mentioned membrane was significantly higher than PCL and PCL+5%Sr after 4 days of culture. Nevertheless, Sr release was not significant in order to use the scaffold as a drug delivery system. In conclusion, the addition of 1%Sr to PCL granted a suitable environment to improve the biocompatibility for BMPC.
