Resumen:
In this chapter, we focus on two inter-connected issues that have been central in recent debates on the role of higher education (HE), in the light of social, political and economic transformations: governance and convergence. Moreover, these issues are at the heart of a perceived ?crisis? of the university (Burawoy, 2011; Torres 2009). The objective of the paper is to present some aspects of the theoretical discussion around the two concepts in relation to the government of universities in Latin American, taking also into account some insights from European and global experiences
