Resumen:
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the leading cause of chronic liver disease worldwide.1 Its relationship and shared disease mechanisms with metabolic syndrome components create a complex clinical scenario.2 Most importantly, the crosstalk and bidirectional communication between the liver and other organs in regulating systemic metabolism and body homeostasis has dramatically changed the management and therapeutic approaches of patients with NAFLD.
