Resumen:
The Flora do Brasil 2020 Collection brings together the results obtained over more than ten years of work from a collaborative network composed of Brazilian and foreign taxonomists, coordinated by the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden (JBRJ) and by a scientific management committee constituted in 2008. This work aimed to meet targets outlined in the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), to which Brazil has been a signatory since 1994. Specifically, we sought to meet Target 1 established by the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC), adapted at the CBD Conference of the Parties in 2002, which intended to compile and organize available information on plants at the local, regional and global levels, with a view to knowing and conserving all species on the planet (CDB 2010a, 2010b).
