Resumen:
The problem of preserving a sustainable environment is an issue that involveseveryone, from the domestic to the industrial level. For this reason, it is veryimportant to know what to do about this problem. Climate change, pollution, ofair and different water resources, from lakes, lagoons, rivers, seas or oceans, globalwarming, the extinction of flora and fauna, are some of the problems that humanbeings are currently facing. Different strategies and actions have been implementedto mitigate these types of problems. Green chemistry is an excellent option to dealwith this type of problems, it is currently considered a philosophy at local, nationaland international level, and is applicable in countless areas. This book sets out in detail the 12 principles of green chemistry, applied indifferent areas in order to demonstrate the importance of using this methodologyas a viable strategy for the care and conservation of the environment. Each of the12 principles is covered in different book chapters. This book addresses areas ofimportance, such as preventing pollution, economy in use of synthetic processes, one chapter on renewable raw materials with compounds of great added value, such as plants, agro-industrial waste, among others, as well as the use of enzymessuch as accelerators or moderators of reaction speeds, safe design from chemicalprocesses at the laboratory to the industrial level, the use of unconventional energysources ranging from ultrasound and microwave, as well as the process design thatreduce the production of reaction by-products, the use of catalysts with long usefullife times for various synthetic processes, different strategies to perform continuousmonitoring of the process to avoid accidents. In addition, each chapter of this book, captures and schematizes examples that involve the principles of green chemistry, ranging from simple cases which can be easily reproducible to more elaborateprocesses.
