Resumen:
The EELA project aimed to create a collaboration network between Europe and LatinAmerican for training in Grid technologies and the deployment of a pilot Grid infrastructurefor escience applications. Grid computing has emerged as an important new field, and itsdevelopment in Argentina is particularly important for a number of reasons, such as thatArgentina has recently joined the ATLAS collaboration at CERN and the increasing interest infuture biomedical applications. The potential of GRID technology is well known, however, itsadoption is not a trivial task as it requires significant investment in several areas. In thispaper, the achievements and progress in Argentina through close collaboration with EELAare presented. Among these are the deployment of a Grid Certification Authorityinfrastructure that is a crucial component in the activities of the eScience community in thecountry; the deployment, integration and validation of a small local EELA node; installationand running of an analysis ATLAS application on the EELA infrastructure. The experiencegained in participating in EELA dissemination events also allowed us to actively promote theGRID and training for its use different target audiences in Argentina and in LA.
