Resumen:
Modern laboratory automation systems are rapidly evolving towards highly distributed configurations. Such topologies provide modularity, reliability and resource sharing at reasonable costs. Traditional approaches to distributed data acquisition systems usually relay on vendor specific real time kernels and proprietary network interfaces. However, the actual tendency to software standardization and the ever-decreasing cost of personal computer (PC) hardware suggest interesting novel approaches to experiment automation.
