CHILDREN AND YOUTH AS AFFECTIVE LABORERS

Based on fieldwork in Buenos Aires, the paper reflects upon quotidian practices by children and youth?s beneficiaries of social programs in order to understand emotional labour upon the intersection between care, family organization and state regulation / intervention. The paper dialogues with the turn in sociology and anthropology which connects interpersonal and structural violence with technologies in the margins of the state, aiming at understanding the experiencial dimension of subjects along the analysis of technologies of governmentality. Echoing Ortner?s critique of ?ethnographic refusal?, the paper criticises the ways in which these approaches study state violence, while hiding the multiplicity and heterogeneity of the state; Ggender and generation related issues are overlooked and naturalized, making specificieties and relational aspects of care, invisibilized. Plus, the lack of diacronic perspective on well established practices in generations, limits the possibilities of analysis.
