This paper considers the explanations given in History, beginning with Weber´s ideal types method. It follows the research of witchcraft pursuit in Europe along the XV, XVI, and XVII Centuries made by N. Cohn. The aim of this paper is to show that the generalizations presupposed in the explanations of the several pursuits have a great explanatory value if they are considered not as a law or a quasi-legal sentence but as an ideal type. In this way, the interest of the historian in events and singular actions is satisfied, making possible a fruitful use in the research of other Social Sciences
