Resumen:
The effect of clay-organo modifier on the fracture behaviour of the pure polycaprolactone (PCL) was studied. It was demostrated that all clays used enhanced the mechanical and fracture behavior of the PCL. The optimal combination of properties was achieved with the PCL reinforced with 5wt.% of C30B obtaining improvements of 17% in the Young´s modulus and 1500% in the specific essential fracture work. On the other hand, there was not a clear trend between the clay dispersion degree and the mechanical and fracture parameters probably due to the balance between clay dispersion degree and silicate platelet content inside the nanocomposites.
