Resumen:
In this chapter we describe the basic mathematical tools necessary to understanding kinetic analyses found in the enzyme electrode literature. We include a review of much of the work published in this field from 1992 to present. This should be useful for those who wish to take the subject further and to apply these approaches to their own data. In what follows we concentrate almost exclusively on amperometric enzyme electrodes. This is because there is much more literature on the modelling of this type of biosensor than any other and it is also the most relevant to the field of bioelectrochemistry. However, the same general principles apply in developing models for other types of electrochemical biosensor such as potentiometric or conductimetric devices.
