Resumen:
Metalloporphyrins are organometallic complexes that exhibit, through synthetic modifications, the ability to tune their opticaland electrochemical properties and their selectivity towards aparticular molecule or ion. For this reason, they are systemsextremely useful as electrochemical sensors to detect andquantify a wide variety of analytes with high selectivity, even inreal samples such as food, water, biological fluids, or pharmaceuticalcompounds. This review presents an up-to-date list ofreports in which metalloporphyrins are used as electrochemicalsensors. In addition to compiling a comprehensive and up-to-date list ofreported sensors that utilize metalloporphyrins, this work aimsto provide an overview of currently available tools andtechniques for the detection of various chemical speciesthrough similar approaches, which are constantly beingdeveloped.
