Resumen:
The reducing system NiCl2·2H2O-Li-arene(cat.) has been applied to the reduction of a wide range of different functionalities including alkenes, alkynes, carbonyl compounds, imines, halogenated compounds, sulfonates, aromatic compounds, hydrazines, azo compounds, azoxy compounds, N-oxides, and nitrones. The degree of the reduction can be controlled for some substrates, with easy incorporation of deuterium into the products when used the corresponding deuterated nickel salt. With the Li-arene(cat.) system (in the absence of the nickel salt) nitrones, N-alkoxyamides, and acyl azides were also reduced.
