Resumen:
The following three new species of Forcipomyia (Metaforcipomyia) from southern Argentina and Chile are described and illustrated: F. mapuche and F. morenoi from northwestern Patagonia, and F. darwini from the Deceit island in the Cape Horn. The previously known, spotted-wing species F. maculosa Ingram and Macfie is placed in the subgenus Metaforcipomyia, and notes on its type are provided. Forcipomyia galliari Marino & Spinelli is excluded of the subgenus Metaforcipomyia, and it is considered as belonging to the subgenus Euprojoannisia Brèthes. Furthermore, a key to recognition of females and males of the seven New World species of the subgenus is included.
