AIMS: Evaluate the effect of novel practical oxygen therapy methodology on neonatal pigletssurvival under commercial farm conditions.METHODS: Piglets from hyperprolific sows presenting asphyxia, n= 109 (classified using anadjusted APGAR score) or very low birth weight n= 112 (less than 1,05 Kg) were selected for thestudy. Treated animals (n=55 piglets of very low birth weight and n= 57 presenting asphyxia)25 received oxygen therapy immediately after birth. According to a strategic protocol, 100% oxygeninhalation was achieved using a specially designed device.
