Resumen:
A hydrogel is a hydrophilic polymer network that has the ability to swell in water and store large amounts of this, without losing its shape. A useful property of hydrogels is their ability to retain substances of medium, which is determined by the composition of the gel, type of monomer used and amount of crosslinking agent, as well as interactions between external solute and matrix polymer. In this work the polymeric hydrogel combinatorial synthesis is performed in parallel using monomers of varying hydrophilicity / hydrophobicity, with the aim to evaluate the retention of the metal cation Fe + 2. Each gel matrix is loaded with the phenanthroline chelating to promote absorption by complexing metal inside the gel. Finally an expansion of the library created for that hydrogel having the desired characteristics is realized. To compare different hydrogels for their ability to retain the metal cation, are used partition coefficient HTS, this is a parameter that can be known as the metal ion between the gel and the solution used is distributed. This study allowed us to find a polymer structure where the metal is retained by hydrophobic effect in the internal of the gel after the formation of a colored complex.
