Resumen:
The development of green analytical chemistry (GAC) requires smart strategies in order to move from old procedures to innovative paths for performing sustainable and efficient analytical methodologies. Searching for green solvents is not only a trendy topic but also an urgent need. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) arethe so-called solvents of the new era, thanks to their outstanding solvent skills. Analytical applications ofDES are intimately aligned with principles of GAC. In this chapter, we provide the state of art regardingprincipal applications of DES in the field of analytical chemistry. The three pillars of analytical methoddevelopment are considered: extractions mediated by DES aligned with GAC, opportunities involving themost popular separation techniques, and enhancement and compatibility with detection systems are presentedand discussed based on the most relevant, representative scientific references found. Furthermore, futureprospects of DES as analytical tools are proposed.
