Resumen:
Thermodynamic measurements of the equilibrium oxygen partial pressure as a function of the oxygen content have been performed in Nd1.85Ce0.15Cu1.01Oy at 900°C. These measurements suggest the presence of two kinds of defects: interstitial oxygen atoms for PO2 higher than the one corresponding to the thermodynamic equilibrium CuO-Cu2O (1.4 × 10-2 atm) and oxygen vacancies for oxygen partial pressure below this value. The superconducting transition of samples with controlled oxygen content was studied through Magnetically Modulated Microwave Absorption (MaMMA). The superconducting transition was observed only for samples quenched at PO2 lower than 1.4 × 10-2 atm. These results confirm that in order to obtain superconductivity in this material interstitial oxygen atoms must be removed from its structure.
