Resumen:
This article presents a general-purpose co-simulation computational framework developed for studying aeroelastic instabilities (i.e., flutter and aerodynamic buckling) of joined-wing aircrafts. The framework consists of: i) a structural-dynamic model based on a Timoshenko’s beam finite element that consistently adds the Von Kármán geometric non-linearities; ii) an aerodynamic model based un the unsteady vortex lattice method; and iii) a strong interaction model to combine both. A dynamic system that represents a joined-wing aircraft is studied in order to determine the critical airspeed at which the instabilities occur. The obtained results are in good agreement with those published in specialized bibliography.
