Resumen:
Chromosome numbers were determined in mitosis and meiosis of 36 populations belonging to nine endemic southamerican species and one Naturalized of the Lathyrus genus. All the species ( L. crassipes Hook. & Arn., L. latifolius L., L. macrostachys Vogel, L. magellanicus var. glaucescens Speg., L. magellanicus Lam. var. magellanicus, L. magellanicus var. tucumanensis Burkart, L. multiceps Clos, L. nitens Vogel, L. paranensis Burkart, L. pubescens Hook. & Arn.) were diploid with x=7.
