Resumen:
Abstract Some species belonging to the genera Galactia,Camptosema and Collaea from southern Brazil, Paraguay,Argentina, and Uruguay are grouped into a complex basedon exomorphological affinities. The diagnostic morphologicalfeatures sometimes overlap among species ofdifferent genera and dissimilar criteria have been adopted todelimit them, thus generating great taxonomic uncertainty. The aim of this work was to clarify the genetic relationshipsof the species within the complex as well as to analyze theinfraspecific variability by means of analysing the AFLPband patterns. We examined 378 AFLP markers generatedafter amplification using six primer combinations. Themonophyly of Collaea was supported, corroborating thepresent morphological classification. On the other hand, theresults are not congruent with the current circumscriptionof Galactia and Camptosema, in agreement with previousphylogenetic hypotheses based on morphologicalcharacters and karyological studies, as both genera arepolyphyletic.
