Dr.Sebastian MarquezLaboratoriode Amplificación Génica-INIBIOMA-CONICET-National University of Comahue, SanCarlos de Bariloche, ArgentinaSummaryInArgentina, the DNA barcodes has been taken by different researchgroups as a powerful tool to improve knowledge of biodiversitythroughout the National territory. In this sense, CONICET (NationalCouncil of Science and Technology) has funded the creation of 5Laboratories iBOL-Argentina. The pioneering groups that incorporateDNA Barcoding in Argentina are at the Argentine Museum of NaturalSciences -MACN-led by Dr. Paul Tubaro (mainly explored Taxas: Insectsand Birds), and the Institute of Marine and Coastal Research at Seadel Plata (fish). They, with the institutional and financial supportfrom CONICET and with the invaluable collaboration and agreementswith BIO and CCDB formed a structure Work flow for DNA barcode ofdifferent taxa from samples collected by different research groupsthroughout around the country. In addition, an Annual Workshop ispart of the Argentine IBOL Project, partly funded by CONICET whereresearchers are trained to incorporate new DNA barcode in theirresearch as a powerful tool adds Molecular Taxonomy. The laboratorywhere I work is part of Inibioma - Institute for BiodiversityResearch and Environment. It is one of the 5 Lab iBOL-conicet ofArgentina, it is located in San Carlos de Bariloche PatagoniaArgentina. At the Institute work around 100 researchers investigatingdifferent areas from the Conservation of biological diversity (flora, fauna and microorganisms) until renewable and non-renewable energy. The laboratory has equipment for work at multiwell scale, and havedelimited areas to process the samples from the lysis to obtainingPCR product ready to be sent to sequencing. In the Lab, since itsinception they have been processed samples of different taxa:reptiles, fish, nematodes, algae, fungi but mainly plant. Newchallenges for the Lab is processing Yeasts and bone samples from thePaleo Patagonian fauna with antiques dating from 10,000 years to thepresent. Help! On the other hand, there is a strong human resourcededicated to environmental research at the institute, so thepractical application of DNA barcode for Environmental monitoringwould be very positive. In addition, as concern itself promote theuse of DNA barcoding as a tool of control in food fraud.
