Resumen:
The Crowned Eagle (Harpyhaliaetus coronatus) is considered as a vulnerable species and rare to see. In addition little is know about its biology and behavior. During 2000 and 2001 we collected three dead eagles. Two of them were killed by firearms and the third one was struck by a car. Nine prey items were founded in the three stomachs and a crop analyzed. The preys were reptiles, birds, mammals and arthropods. According to our results and field observations, armadillos from the Dasypodidae Family would be an important item in the diet of the Crowned Eagle. We recorded venomous serpents in its diet as well as the occasional scavenging behavior of the Crowned Eagles.
