Resumen:
Karyological studies in South American grasses. Chromosome numbers are reported for 82 accessions of grasses representing 11 genera and 41 specific or underspecific taxa. The accessions belong to the warm-season forage grass germplasm collections of EMBRAPA/CENARGEN (Empresa Brasileria de Pesquisa Agropecuaria/ Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de recursos Genéticos e Biotecnología) at Brasilia, Brazil, and IBONE (Instituto de Botánica del Nordeste) at Corrientes, Argentina. The results contribute to the general evaluation of native forage grasses, specially of the genus Paspalum, collected through Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay
