Resumen:
Branched polypropylenes have been synthesized from two linear polymers: an isotactic polypropylene and a propylene-ethylene random copolymer. The synthesis was performed in two steps. Commercial polymers were grafted with maleic anhydride and then crosslinked with a bifunctional amine by reactive modification. Chemical modifications and changes in the molecular structureof the polymers were analyzed by a combination of infrared spectroscopy, size exclusion chromatography, and shear and extensional rheology. The results confirm the grafting of anhydride groups and the incorporation of long-chain branches in both linear polymers.
