Resumen:
In another work in this Symposium, we presented a Mixed IntegerDynamic Optimization (MIDO) approach for the simultaneous design and control ofstyrene polymerization in a semi-batch jacketed reactor. For an industrialreactor of 5 m3, geometry, initiator mixture composition and controlsystem were optimally determined in a single optimization run.In this work we first analyze the effect of scaleup in the integrated process and control design. For a lab scale reactor of 1L, the design problem was repeated with the same product specifications andprocess restrictions.
