In the present study, commercial organophilic clay was used to prepare composites  based on polyethylene (PE) by melt compounding. Because PE is hydrophobic, a polyethylene modified with maleic anhydride was used as compatiblizer for improving the clay dispersion on the PE. The effect of the clay concentration and the concentration ratio PEg/clay on properties such as rheological, tribological and gas barrier were analyzed.
