Resumen:
Natural proteins appear as excellent candidates to replace polymers based on non-renowable sources and to improve the material biocompatibility and functionality. Taking advantage of collagen properties like biocompatibility and acceleration of tissue growth, in this work we present the synthesis of hybrid modified-collagen/acrylic nanoparticles by emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization. These particles present great film-formation capability and switchable adhesion with the moisture content. Additionally, with the aim of improving the potentiality to accelerate tissue repair, films show excellent loading and release capability of acexamic acid. All these characteristics make these non-cytotoxic films good candidates to be employed as bioadhesive in wound healing treatments.
