Resumen:
The Oligocene through Miocene marine sedimentary rocks in Patagonia, southern Argentina, were deposited during Atlantic transgressions. They have been described from the coast to the foothills of the Andes and grouped into the informal name of Patagoniano. In this paper we offer a description of taphonomic features of the oyster concentrations in the lower part of the Patagoniano (i.e. San Julián Formation) at Cabo Curioso, in the province of Santa Cruz, Patagonia, Argentina. This permits recognition of the relative sea-level changes and paleoenvironmental conditions during the Oligocene in southern Patagonia.
