Resumen:
The color of the quinoa grain is a selection character due to various culinary reasons and has market influence. Despite this, there are few studies about grain color variation which consider human visual perception and to what extent colorimetric characterization has diagnostic value for different quinoa genotypes. The most evident distinction was between dark grains of Cuchihuila variety and the rest of the grains. The lack of significant differences between the majority of the phenotypes studied here, casts doubt on the diagnostic value of color and suggests further investigation about populations and genotypes typing regarding grain color.
