Resumen:
Two species are found inhabiting Argentina: Hypolepis repens (L.) C. Presl and Hypolepis poeppigii (Kunze) Maxon. Until the moment, there is no enough information about this genus in Argentina, due to that, diagnostic features, illustrations, ecological characteristics and the differences between the species are included in this work. Hypolepis poeppigii and H. repens are the unique species of the genus in the austral part of South America. The main features that allow the identification of those species are the kind, proportion and position of the hairs on the lamina.
