PARTNER 7 UBA THIRD ANNUAL REPORT: covering period from 1.11.2004 to 31.10.2005     SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES AND RESULTS   Overview During the 3rd year period of the ACCESS project, the work at UBA was focused on: (i) the study of the influence of plants, microbes and abiotic factors on the degradation of chlorophenoxy herbicides (2,4-dichlorophenoxybutyric acid, 2,4-DB) in microcosms assays under controlled conditions; (ii) the isolation of representative microorganisms with herbicide biodegradation potential (WP3) (and their molecular characterization in collaboration with partner MLURI-CCGU); (iii) assessment of the occurrence and activity of microbial catabolic genes (WP3) and of the microbial biodiversity of Argentinean agricultural soils (WP1), in collaboration with Partner GBF
