PARTNER 7 UBA SECOND ANNUAL REPORT: covering period from 1.11.2003 to 31.10.2004     SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES AND RESULTS   Overview During the 2nd year period of the ACCESS project, the work at UBA was centred on:  (i) the optimisation of analytical procedures for herbicide chemical analyses; (ii) set up of microcosms assays designed to dissect the influence of plants, microbes and abiotic factors on the degradation of the target herbicides;  (iii) isolation of microorganisms with herbicide degrading capacity; (iv) the optimisation and standardisation of protocols for nucleic acids extraction and analysis of soil microbial communities (in collaboration with Partner 3, MLURI) and functional analysis of microbial communities of Argentinean agricultural soils (in collaboration with Partner 1, GBF).
