Resumen:
To define the independent influence of muscle mass, force and use and estrogens on BMC determination, we analyzed the relationships between DXA (Lunar-Advance)-assessed BMC and lean mass (LM) and hand-grip strength (HGS) in the upper limbs of 300 healthy Colombian residents with strictly defined rural (R) working activities (83 men, 52.9±11.0 years; 63 premenopausal women, 40.5±2.8 years; 164 postmenopausal women, 55.7±8.0 years) and further 300 with urban (U) habits (93, 53.4±9.7 years; 55, 40.3±2.9 years; 152, 54.8±6.5 years).
