Resumen:
The ability of 17 global circulation models in simulating daily rainfall of the Pampasregion is assessed for winter and summer, key seasons for the crop production of theregion. Principal Component Analysis combined with k-means Cluster Analysis isemployed to examine the models? representation of the relationship between daily sealevel pressure of southern South America and rainfall. Models represent thisrelationship better for winter, reflecting their ability in reproducing winter synopticscale patterns associated with rainfall. They precipitate too frequently at low intensityand less frequently at high intensity. This characteristic is more accentuated in winter.
