 One-dimensional photonic crystals (PC’s) containing negative-index materials (NIM’s) attracted intensive studies in the last years due to their unique electromagnetic properties and potential applications. NIM’s in PC’s have been firstly studied theoretically as isotropic, non-dispersive, non-dissipative materials. However, zero-n and zero-m (zero-e) gaps have been investigated because of the inclusion of frecuency dispersion, and dissipation. Experimental results have also demostrated that NIM’s are anisotropic. In this work, we describe and study all types of band gaps in 1D PC’s containing uniaxial NIM’s, taking into account different orientations of the optical axis.
