Surnrnary: A mutual beneficial relationship: Plant roots and mycorrhizal-arbuscular fungi. The aim of this paper is to summarize the up-to-date knowledge of the physiological and morphological importance of the mycorrhizal arbuscular association. The different steps followed by each partner to establish the functional symbiosis and the distribution of the association are discussed.
