Resumen:
We are studying the polyamine metabolism in the cell cycle of CHO cells cultured in monolayer. The objetives are: a. To determine lf these amines play some rol in the regulation of the cell cycle. b. To compare in the future these results with the studies that we will do with malignant cells. Cells were synchronized in G1/S with 1 mM hydroxyurea and in M phase with 0.03 mgl/ml of nocodazole. The following determinations were done at different incubation times: polyamine content and transport, ODC activity and ODC molecule number. The results would indicate that polyamines are involved in the regulation of the cell cycle. DFMO treatment causes an increase in the uptake of putrescine and total proteins, without changes in the ornithine uptake.
