Resumen:
The chapter refers to the process of urban expansion in Cordoba city, an intermediate city in Argentina.The city growth is enhanced by private and public investments, by the decentralization of activities and the suburbanization strategies of private entrepreneurs. It is questioned the consecuences of urban expansion in terms of the effectivness of public policies to reduce internal imbalances in the urban system and the kind of relationship between expansion and urban fragmentation.
