The urban periphery within the context of globalisation

This paper will discuss the research object of a doctoral thesis focus on the urban expansion process ocurring over the las decade in Argentina´s intermediate cities. It will be argued thet the metropolisation caused by globalisation is different in nature and prospect to that which took place during the industrializarion period. Therefore a new conceptual approach should be developed to understand the social, spatial, and environmental impacts of such new phenomenon.
