The article presents the conceptual approaches related to the process of sprawl. It examines the theory developed by David Rusk in north american cities, and identifies the main variables of sprawl.In second term it analyses the spatial strategies developed in Córdoba to guide urban growth, and a criticak revied of the main ideas proposed in córdoba city.Finally, identifies the main differences betwen urban expansion in orth american cities and the case of study.
