At the XVIII International Botanical Congress in Melbournein 2011 a Special Committee on By-laws for the Nomenclature Sectionwas established with the mandate ?To formalise the proceduresby which changes to the Code are considered and voted upon bythe Nomenclature Section?. The Committee?s extensive discussionshave resulted in the following proposal to replace in the MelbourneCode (McNeill & al. in Regnum Veg. 154. 2012) the current DivisionIII (Provisions for the governance of the Code) with the followingrevised Division III. The Committee approves the following proposalunanimously (all 18 members in favour). This proposal is accompaniedand explained by the Report of the Special Committee (Knapp & al.in Taxon 65: 665?669. 2016), and the two documents should be readalongside each other. In the interests of clarity and transparency, theresults of the Committee?s separate votes after discussion of eachproposed Article are presented in Tables 1 and 2 of the Report. Thenumbering of Articles and Recommendations below is provisional.Should the proposal be accepted, the Editorial Committee will nodoubt devise a numbering system that both facilitates citation andavoids confusion
